Tyre Nichols Murder Protest Locations and Times
I've compiled a list of protests happening across the U.S. today
As I write this, the world is awaiting the imminent release of the video of Tyre Nichols’ murder at the hands of police in Memphis, TN. It may be out already by the time you read this. (update, the video is out - read on for protest info)
Of the footage, Memphis police chief CJ Davis said in an interview with CNN that she’s “never witnessed anything of that nature [the beating of Tyre by four officers] in my entire career…you’re going to see acts that defy humanity. You’re going to see a disregard for life…Individuals watching will feel what the family felt…And if you don’t, then you’re not a human being…there was an amount of aggression that is unexplainable.”
According to viral social media posts, many are choosing not to watch the video. Some have questioned the rollout and timing of the footage and the purpose of having such a “countdown” for Black trauma and a terrible murder.
We already know what happened was horrific. And because Black Lives Matter and a 29-year-old man who was full of such life, hope, and promise was murdered, organizers have planned protests for this evening across the United States.
I believe people power is the best (ONLY) way to get real change.
Here is a list of some of the protests (assume all time zones are local); feel free to comment with more – enough is enough. #JusticeForTyre
