Dear Courage News Community,
I'm (Jenn!) writing to you today from a place of renewed commitment and excitement. As many of you know, I'm embarking on a significant journey, both literally and figuratively. I'm moving back to Maryland, a decision that reignites my passion for reporting on the progressive issues that are at the heart of our mission.
The road ahead is LONG – a 40-hour drive from California to Baltimore with my partner, Jason. This journey is more than just a relocation; it's a symbolic drive towards growth and impact.
I aim to expand Courage News to its envisioned potential, creating a nationwide network of reporters and activists dedicated to shedding light on the stories that matter (if you want to be one of them, hit me up! jenn@couragenews.com).

The GOOD … and the Very, Very Bad
Watch:
Our mission is two-fold: to highlight the GOOD in the world (yes, there is still some out there and in order to keep fighting, we need to see it) and to expose corruption through impactful investigative journalism. My previous work on critical issues like the Flint Water Crisis, housing crisis, trans rights, tenant rights, Native American issues, racism, the abuses of the FBI, workers rights, and more will absolutely continue.
And yes, I will continue to be outspoken on the genocide being committed by the Israeli government. (#PermanentCeasefireNow #FreePalestine)
Holding the Powerful Accountable - For the 99%!
Being closer to DC is strategic. It positions us to hold the powerful accountable, as I've done in the past with figures like Rudy Giuliani, the corrupt lawyers fighting against the people of Flint, and corporations like Amazon. Moreover, the current political climate, especially the alarming plans of Trump and the GOP (look up #Project2025 - it is extremely alarming and I will be reporting on it extensively), demands vigilant and fearless journalism.
True Journalists Unfortunately Take Literal Beatings
My journey as a reporter hasn't been easy. From low to no funds to broken phones and being beaten by police (raise your hand if you remember seeing my phone turn to black and stay live for an hour or so with screaming and blasts going off!) to battling long COVID acquired from the Giuliani family (boooo), the challenges have been many. But these experiences only fuel my commitment to Courage News and its uncompromising ethos.
In a media landscape where legacy news is firing all their journalists and *actual* independent journalism is increasingly rare, Courage News stands as a beacon of unfiltered truth. Our pledge is clear: no censorship, regular reporting, and a genuine dialogue with our readers.
What’s Up in Your Area?
On this trip, I will be traveling from California through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Virginia, to land in Baltimore! Throughout, I'll be documenting stories from each state, bringing to light issues that are often overlooked. I encourage you to reach out with stories from your area that need attention! I’d be happy to highlight.
Courage News - I - Need You!
To make this journey and our mission a success, I need your support. Whether through a subscription to this Substack or a one-time donation, your contribution is invaluable. It ensures that Courage News remains a platform for outspoken, humane journalism, especially on important issues like Israel/Palestine, where others have been silenced.
I invite you to be part of this journey. Your questions, stories, and thoughts are not just welcomed but essential (send to jenn@couragenews.com). Together, let's make Courage News a reflection of our collective voice and vision.
