House Passes Assault Weapons Ban After Party Reps Spar About "Jr" AR-15 for Kids
The bill is unlikely to pass the Senate, to the dismay of a majority of Americans polled #assaultweaponsban
WATCH A SUMMARY (2 mins):
The House of Representatives has passed H.R. 1808, the Assault Weapons Ban of 2022, 217-213, "to ensure that the right to keep and bear arms is not unlimited." Five Democrats voted NAY on the bill, and just two Republicans voted YAY, with votes largely landing along party lines.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the push for the vote shortly before it took place, surprising many who did not expect it to occur before August recess.
Pelosi said before the bill’s passage, "Our nation has watched in unspeakable horror as assault weapons have been used in massacre after massacre in communities across the country...And disturbingly, so many of these mass shootings have targeted our precious children, in our schools, at the movies, at the malls, and throughout our communities."
During the debate, the Speaker showcased an ad for a "Jr" version of an AR-15, noting the ad's callousness.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene responded in her usual style by saying, "The kids at Uvalde needed JR-15s."
The five Democrats who voted against the bill include:
Rep. Jared Golden - MN
Rep. Vicente González - TX
Rep. Kurt Schrader - OR
Rep. Ron Kind - WI
Rep. Henry Cuellar - TX
The two Republicans who voted for the bill include:
Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick - PA
Rep. Chris Jacobs - NY
Unfortunately for most Americans polled, the bill has very little chance of passing in the Senate.

What do you think?
Pelosi has supported Rep. Henry Cuellar for his re-election. So this right-wing Democrat
is against reproduction rights and an assault weapons ban.
The lunatics have taken over the asylum.
